Have you heard?

Solange Knowles has made her way to Washington DC. After performing at the last White House celebration for the Obama administration on Friday, she will follow in her sister’s footsteps with an Inauguration performance. Well, sort of. Since releasing her revered album " A Seat at the Table," Solange made headlines announcing that she will join Esperanza Spaulding in the line up for the Peace Ball on August 19th during Inauguration week.

The Peace Ball is not your average Inaugural ball; however, in fact it is an alternative to the official Inaugural Ball that will celebrate the win for president-elect Donald Trump. The event is hosted by Andy Shallal of Busboy and Poets. Andy makes it clear that this is not an anti-Trump rally. Instead, this is a bi-partisan event celebrating the accomplishments of the last four years. Some worthy gains includes those in criminal justice reform, health care, and marriage equality.

For those who may be let down by the recent outcome of democracy, this is the day to rejoice in all the great work that people are doing nationwide. Popular event goers include, Danny Glover (actor), Eve Ensler (Vagina Monologues), Alice Walker (novelist, Color Purple), Angela Davis (activist), Ashley Judd (actress) and Jose Andrews (celebrity chef).

Especially exciting, the Peace Ball is held in the newly constructed National Museum of African American History and Culture. Anyone who has yet to visit the Nation’s Capital new hot spot will be in for a treat as all the exhibits will be open.

Will you be joining the star-studded event? While tickets are sold out; however, there are limited tickets available with a charity donation of $800 on www.codepink.com.
